Okay, so we've had the Bethalto Public Library secured as our location for a few weeks now, which means we've been promoting our event. We haven't done much so far other than hang up flyers around the school. We've also had our teacher post about it on the schools Facebook page. And our next step is to make a slide so that the school can feature it on the slideshow thing. I've also been meaning to go up to the library and put up some flyers around there but I haven't had the time as of recent. At this point in time we've had the flyers up for a little over a week or so and we've had no one email us, but our event is in two weeks so we have a bit of time which is fine. And as I've stated before I still have a large amount of worry of the amount of people that are actually going to end up going. Since this is a rather niche community in our area I doubt we'd have a large headcount, I guess we'll have to wait.

OKAY! Our task of finding a place to do this is *almost* complete. Which naturally is good because now I'd get to be stressed out about something different. At the moment the place we are doing it at is Bethalto Public Library which is good because I volunteer there so I know people and have connections, which is the only real reason I was able to secure said location. So now that we've got the place we need to pick out date(s) that'll work with everyone in the group. Since I rarely have anything to do most dates work with me but that doesn't apply to everyone else in the group which is a pain. And the two days I've shot out thus far can't work, and my alternative won't be able to work so I'm stuck with two options. Either I can do it a week before we planned in March, which would give us less time to promote and whatnot. Or I could do it the week after in April which is when we'd be working on out presentation for our group. So I'm currently weighing to pros and cons of both but I'm leaning more towards doing it in the first week of April, because at least by then we'd have time to promote plus it shouldn't really interfere with our project. Then I have to edit the flyers I made, print them out, hang them up, etc. And again I naturally have the fear that not very many people will attend even though I put so much work and effort into doing this, but all we can really do is hope for the best and prepare for the worst I suppose.
Well, you know how I said we basically have a place at this point? Well we don't anymore as they said they wouldn't be able to do it. Which I respect, but that happens to set us back and now I may or may not be panicking about it as this is my one job. But besides all of that jazz I still have two back ups, I just need to email them. So this really doesn't set us back too much, but it's still unfortunate as we were really hoping for this place. But that at least gave me something to write about in my blog post as I didn't have anything beforehand. So in a way at lease something happening was good, even though it wasn't very good. Well now my main goal is; Contact my two backups to see if one will actually agree. Then my group and I would go onto: Getting people to actually come to it. Which at the moment is my biggest concern, mainly because people see poetry as "lame" or whatever so promoting it as school may fail entirely. And even then, I volunteer at a library and some of those events, even though they're pretty cool, only have one or two people showing up. But I suppose we'll worry about that once we actually get confirmation on a place and are able to promote it. Until then, we wait.
Okay, first blog in two-three weeks. Not much has happened since then. Still no full confirmation on a place yet, although the future is looking rather promising. At this point we have a place in mind, and we are just waiting to get a response from them. But after that we'd be able to finish the flyer with all of the details and information, and start promoting. So far the idea and goal remain the same, so nothings changed there. Since the last blog nothing has really been accomplished, but that's due to there isn't really anything to accomplish at the moment. I mean there is stuff to do, we just can't really get it done until we get a confirmation, so in short we haven't really done anything because all we can do it wait. But looking forward we'd like to have our first meeting or event sometime hopefully next month if all goes well. And we've been informed that our presentation for our project is going to be on April 30th. So hopefully by then we've had give or take two events, and hopefully they've been rather successful. Until then, we'll just have to wait.
Okay, some progress has been made, but not everything is set in stone.. So over this past "week" I've contacted three different places, Bethalto, Edwardsville, and Hayner Public Library. So far I've gotten emails back from Bethalto and Edwarsville, but I want to wait for an email from Hayner as that's my first pick. But in case that doesn't work I have two backups which is pretty good. And my odds of doing it at the Bethalto public library are pretty high since I'm actually a volunteer there. In short we don't have a set place yet but so far we have three good options. The other thing I've been working on is the flyer. My boss told me the website they use to make the flyers for the library and it was actually really helpful. My group and I created a rough idea and I've tried to re-create it using the program. I haven't finished yet but I've got the basic format of the flyer down. Other than waiting for the email I haven't anything else to say about the project, other than picking a final location in possibly the near future. (Please ignore the All Star lyrics I needed filler for the poster)
Well, my work has been rather uneventful. As I've stated before my role thus far has been to find a venue to hold the events. So I've emailed a few places, and out of the five places I've emailed, I've been turned down twice, and the other three haven't gotten back to me. Awesome. So I am still on the journey of finding a place to hold the events. Other than that what else can we do? Well as a group we ought to make a design for the flyers so that we can promote the event, we just haven't started yet. 11/10 work ethic. Now I suppose I should just continue emailing places so we can hopefully find somewhere to host the event. And if not I suppose we must shift our sight to something else, although I don't know what. Since I have to put a picture, and the only progress I've made so far is getting rejected and ghosted I'll just use another picture of editing the blog as that'd be "self deprecating" if I were to post rejection emails. Farewell, I shall re-emerge next week with my next triumphs, or flops.
-Savannah Hello world! Sorry I didn't exactly know how to start things off. Well, I'm Savannah a student at CMHS and this is my blog for my group's 20Time Project. Our goal for our project is to expand the poetry community in our area by, hopefully, putting on events, poetry slams. So far we just have our general ideas down as well as our goals. My job in the group, other than being the group mom, is finding the venue for the event to take place. I've a few ideas like open mics at restaurants or libraries, but so far nothing is set in stone as I've yet to contact anyone. As a group we also need to think of ways to advertise and where to advertise the event, which we haven't started on yet. We also have very little knowledge of setting up an event, advertising, or even creating a website so all of this is rather new to us. But I suppose we'll have to manage. Other than that everything is on track and we know where to go from where we are currently at. Huzzah! I also don't exactly have anything to put for the picture, what a Shakespearean tragedy, so here's a screenshot of the blog editor. (Please don't take any points off I tried okay)

AuthorHello, I'm Savannah a student at Civic Memorial High School, and I'm totally the leader of this group. I also really like Shrek, it's truly a masterpiece. And if you also like Shrek and dank memes we're probably soul mates.
