Hey everyone! So it has been a while since I've posted and there are some updates for you guys. In the last blog we were waiting for a response from the manager from Hayner Public Library. They did get back to us, but they just couldn't help and provide what we needed. It's all good because we are currently working on another place. In fact Bethalto Public Library is considering helping us and letting us use their place for our event. My partner, Savannah, is currently communicating with the manager at the Bethalto Library and we will go from there. As we have been waiting for a place we have all been brainstorming, We all were thinking that when we host our event there will be a entry fee. The entry fee will be a gently used (or new) children's book. So if you have some old children's books that you don't want you can bring them with you to the event. The children's books will either be donated to the library or to children in our own community. I will keep you guys up on whether we get a place or not.
Hello everyone! I have an update for you guys about our project. As of right now we are still waiting on a response from the manager of the Hayner Public Library. Once we hear back from her we will hopefully have a place were we can host our event. So as we wait I was thinking that I could start informing you guys about the kind of poetry we are doing, which is spoken word poetry. Spoken word poetry is a word based performance that reflects on word play. Something to know about spoken word poetry is that it doesn't have to rhyme. Also spoken word poetry is easier to write when it is something that you are very passionate about.. I know it sounds pretty difficult at first but here are some famous spoken word poets, in case you want to look up their work. One famous spoken word poet is Sarah Kay. She is the founder of Project V.O.I.C..E, which uses spoken word poetry for inspirational and education purposes. Another famous spoken word artist is Hollie Mcnish. she has won the Ted Hughes Award for New York in Poetry. I'm gonna have two links below that are some spoken words that these two artist have written. I hope you guys enjoy!
Hello everyone! Happy New Years! I know it has been a while since I've last posted so here is an update. Since it is a new year, my group and I are creating a New Years Resolution for our project. In mu last blog I informed you guys that we may of found a place and have also created an idea for our poster. Well, my partner Savannah has emailed the manager of where we are hoping to host our event. We are looking and hoping to host our event at the Hayner Public Library. The manager has responded and is wanting in a little bit more detail. We have responded back with more information and our general ideas about our event. Now, we are waiting for her to respond back to us. Hoping everything goes well and that we do get the place, we will start advertising! For my group and I our goal by April 30th is to of had at least one or two events done.
Hello! So this week for my weekly blog we have some new stuff for you! Our group has indeed made some progress! We have an awesome looking poster idea for our advertising! They look so good and I'm so excited! Since we have our design for our posters once we get our place set in stone, we will add the information and be advertising as soon as possible! Savannah has been working super hard on still trying to find a place where we can host the event. We have gotten a yes from Bethalto Public Library and Edwardsville Public Library as well. One place we are still waiting for a response is Hayner Public Library. We may have a place where we can host our event for you guys in next weeks blog! So once we get approval from Hayner Public Library we can then decide on which place we will want to host our event. We are planning on (if everything goes smoothly and on track), to be rolling our events very soon!
-Morgan Hey, guys! So here is an update on our 20 Times Project. We still don't have a place to where we can host our poetry events. My group member, Savannah, has indeed been working very hard on trying to find a place for us to host the event. She has asked a few places but they just haven't worked out, but still we are trying and have some other places in mind. Hopefully by my next blog we have a place we can use. My partner and I are going to start on some ideas for our posters, that we will use to advertise our event. We will hopefully have poster ideas set in stone next week and maybe start on those soon. My goal is that we can have the posters mostly done so that when we do find a place we can add it to the poster and be ready to advertise right away! The overall plan for our project is that we hope to start this event sometime in January/February. It sounds like a far time from now, but by the time everything is for certain we hope to be up and running by then.
Hi! I'm Morgan, and this is just one blog of many that I will be posting, I will blog weekly, Now a little about me and my project. I go to Civic Memorial High School and my English teacher has given the class a yearly, group, project. This project is called the 20 Times Project; which the idea and purpose behind this project is to help benefit the community in any way. We are given 20% of our time in class to work. So my partners, Madi and Savannah, and I are trying to help benefit/influence those around us through poetry (spoken word/poetry slams ect). We are looking for a place to hold our event as of this moment. Once we get a place Madi and I will be advertising once we get a location where we can host our event. We are all new to this, with advertising and hosting such an event, but we can manage and will definitively learn along the way!
